Jindal Attacks Obama for...Creating Jobs!!!

I begin to wonder when our Gov last told the truth--I certainly can't recall a single time. His latest pack of lies came in an email 19 August 2011:
Dear Friend -Louisiana is now in the tenth month of consecutive, private-sector job growth according to new numbers from the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics—with new, even lower unemployment numbers to boot.

These numbers serve as the tangible validations of our plan to put Louisiana's best foot forward in spite of a difficult national economy, in spite of a bloated and ineffective Washington.

Make no mistake; we arrived in our current situation because we had a plan.

When businesses were asked why they didn't come to Louisiana – one of the most cited reasons was corruption.  Thus, we laid out historic ethics reforms to inspire confidence in our state, tax cuts to embrace growth, and workforce training that guarantees citizens are ready and able on day one to go to work.

The evidence is clear: cleaning up government and empowering employers has brought us jobs, new families and growth during a national economic crisis!

President Obama's plan, or at this juncture shall I say plan-in-planning, is to preach from the national pulpit about the evils of wasteful and overly large government all the while expanding it as fast as he possibly can.  He is talking the talk, but staying rigidly immobile when it comes to walking the walk.

He has no plan, has not had a plan in many months, and is currently on vacation in Martha's Vineyard taking in the ocean views while the country scratches its head in total bemusement at how utterly disengaged this president is.

The plan will come next month, he tells us.

It's big government to the rescue in typical big government style—at the pace of a particularly lazy snail.

A plan should have been in place since day one. We had one, it worked, and Obama has only to look south toward Louisiana to see a clear path toward a brighter economic future.

Enjoy your vacation, Mr. President. We will continue working.

What was Jindal's plan? To publicly denounce and reject the Stimulus money from Washington before accepting it and handing out, via expensive helicopter trips, over-sized checks with his name on them, as though the checks came from him. He also fails to mention that a lot of that Public Sector job growth occurred in Charter Schools subsidized by the Feds, Katrina and Rita and BP clean up and rebuilding, subsidized by the Feds (and by money the Feds forced BP to pay). I am sure a few jobs were created by Jindal's dark deals with Chouest, Halliburton  and other friends.


Jindal criticizes The Pres for announcing he will present a plan for reducing waste and creating jobs without announcing that plan. That is very squirrelly logic from an ethically challenged man. And where is Jindal's Plan for Jobs? Where is the plan of the National Republican Party? 


They don't have one.

BP Oil Disaster Still With Us

Bp's Disaster is very much here and now:


The national media have given up reporting on the consequences of BP's Deepwater Horizon Disaster in spite of the story being very much alive. Rachel Maddow reported last June on BP's lack of interest in funding research on oil spill clean up, but no one else cared. We don't hear much about tar continuing to pollute Gulf Beaches. John L. Wathen wrote about BP's literal cover up of oily beaches last June, but his blog pages on the subject have vanished (although some new writing is here and here).
The media fail to report that there are more rigs in the Gulf, not less, than a year ago and they don't give much coverage to  disaster related stories, such as the Congressional hearings on offshore drilling safety, on Obama's leaning to decline to set up an independent agency within the Dept of Interior (to function like the FBI in Justice) that was recommended by the set up to investigate the oil disaster.

This is part of the sad commentary of the moribund condition of our media. We saw it after the Federal Flood and after the Bp Disaster, and we are seeing it again in Egypt as I write this. This is what happens when News reporting becomes Entertainment.

Jindal Attacks the Healthcare Reform Law

The Gov's hypocrisy continues. He (along with 20 other Republican governors) is asking Obama to make 6 major changes to the 2010 Health Care reform IF the Supreme Court doesn't overturn it. He wishes states had been given more opportunity to provide input when the Act was being drafted. He argues that the Act will create a huge unfunded mandate on the states.

This is baloney. He has seen the CBO's assessment of the cost of the law and he knows it will actually reduce Medicare costs to the states while increasing the number of people covered.

He is also concerned that the federal government will end up running the health exchanges instead of the states. I say, bring on the Feds! Jindal has proven that he wants to destroy public health services. When he was Secretary of DHH, his claim to fame was "saving money" by closing dozens of clinics across the state. He closed down the Youth Psychology Clinic in New Orleans when we were in dire need of it in the aftermath of Katrina, the Federal Flood and the BP disaster.

But think about this: if the Supreme Court doesn't overturn the law, why would Obama change it for the worse? This is another publicity stunt by Jindal to stay on the national stage.

The Prez has just consolidated the Hispanic and LGBT vote in the 2010 election. Delaware's population is 8% Latino, Arizona 26%. Don't know the percentage of LGBT--so many closets, don't you know. But Karl Rove back-pedaled on his O'Donnell critique--he now claims he endorsed her Tuesday night on Fox. And more stuff surfaces about O'Donnell, showing her to be more crazy than Sharon Angle--I didn't think that possible!

Breaking news: The Pope thinks we should help the victims of sacerdotal abuse, now shut up.
